Σας προσκαλούμε σε μια ξεχωριστή βραδιά με τον πολυβραβευμένο σκηνοθέτη, ηθοποιό και συγγραφέα Mark Leipacher (Macbeth: Partners of Greatness, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Talented Mr Ripley, Mary Stuart, Douglass) και τον καθηγητή, συγγραφέα και σκηνοθέτη Ρωμανό Γεροδήμο (Deterrence, Essence, At the Edge of the Present).
Ο Mark Leipacher – Καλλιτεχνικός Διευθυντής ενός εκ των πιο φρέσκων και τολμηρών θεατρικών ομάδων της Βρετανίας, του The Faction – θα επισκεφθεί την Αθήνα για λίγες ημέρες, καθώς ξεκινά την προετοιμασία της ελληνικής ενότητας της επικής, πολυετούς, διεθνούς και πολυγλωσσικής παραγωγής του έργου του Σαίξπηρ Περικλής: ο Πρίγκιπας της Τύρου.
Ο Ρωμανός Γεροδήμος θα «ανακρίνει» τον Mark Leipacher – τον οποίον ο Βρετανικός Τύπος αποκάλεσε έναν «καταιγιστικό καινοτόμο» – για τη μοναδική θεατρική προσέγγιση του The Faction, με την απόδοση κλασικών κειμένων μέσα από μια σύγχρονη οπτική για τον 21ο αιώνα, καθώς και για τη δέσμευσή του θιάσου στις αξίες της συμπερίληψης, της ισότητας, της προσβασιμότητας, της εκπροσώπησης, της περιβαλλοντικής βιωσιμότητας και του σεβασμού στις διαφορετικές κουλτούρες και γλώσσες.
Ο Mark Leipacher και ο Ρωμανός Γεροδήμος θα μοιραστούν τα βασικά συμπεράσματα και τις ιδέες που έχουν προκύψει μέχρι στιγμής απ’τη μακρόχρονη συνεργασία τους με το Μουσείο του Φρόϋντ στο Λονδίνο, σε ένα πολυετές πρότζεκ που μελετά τη σύγχρονη απήχηση και τη θεραπευτική δύναμη των έργων του Σαίξπηρ και του Φρόϋντ, μέσα από μια σειρά ψυχοκοινωνικών εργαστηρίων στο Λονδίνο, καθώς και μέσω podcasts, θεατρικών βραδιών στον Κήπο του Μουσείου του Φρόϋντ και ενός ντοκιμαντέρ (Stepped in Blood), αποσπάσματα του οποίου θα προβληθούν κατά τη διάρκεια της εκδήλωσης.
Η Οικία Κατακουζηνού – που στήριξε το εγχείρημα αυτό από την αρχή – αποτελεί τον ιδανικό χώρο φιλοξενίας αυτής της βραδιάς, καθώς ο Άγγελος και η Λητώ Κατακουζηνού αφιέρωσαν τη ζωή τους στα πεδία της ψυχανάλυσης και των τεχνών, συνδυάζοντάς τα με μοναδικό τρόπο σε αυτόν τον μοναδικό χώρο με θέα το Ελληνικό Κοινοβούλιο.
Σε μια εποχή παγκόσμιας «πολυκρίσης», διαφθοράς, κατάχρησης εξουσίας, σύγκρουσης και αταξίας, ο Mark Leipacher και ο Ρωμανός Γεροδήμος θα αναδείξουν τους τρόπους με τους οποίους η κλασική λογοτεχνία, το σύγχρονο θέατρο και η ψυχοκοινωνική έρευνα μπορούν να προκαλέσουν σκέψη, συγκίνηση και θεραπεία.
Η εκδήλωση περιλαμβάνει συζήτηση με το κοινό και θα πραγματοποιηθεί στα Αγγλικά. Το Stepped in Blood είναι στα Αγγλικά με ελληνικούς υπότιτλους.

Το νέο βιβλίο του Ρωμανού Γεροδήμου, Οδηγός Επιβίωσης για τον 21ο Αιώνα (Εκδ. Athens Voice Books) θα διατίθεται προς πώληση στο φουαγιέ, ενώ ο συγγραφέας θα υπογράψει αντίτυπα μετά το τέλος της εκδήλωσης.
Ο Mark Leipacher είναι θεατρικός σκηνοθέτης, ηθοποιός, καθηγητής και συγγραφέας που εργάζεται στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και διεθνώς. Κατάγεται από το Black Country της Αγγλίας και ζει στο Λονδίνο. Ως Καλλιτεχνικός Διευθυντής του συνόλου The Faction έχει τιμηθεί με το Peter Brook Award και το Off West End Award, ενώ έχει προταθεί για το Off West End Award Καλύτερης Σκηνοθεσίας.
Επιλεγμένες παραγωγές: Mary Stuart, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Talented Mr Ripley, Douglass, Macbeth: Partners of Greatness. Έχει συμπεριληφθεί στη μακρά λίστα για το Young Vic Genesis Fellowship και στο κορυφαίο 10% των σεναρίων στο πρόγραμμα BBC Writers Room.
Ως συγγραφέας, οι θεατρικές του διασκευές περιλαμβάνουν το Ο Ταλαντούχος Κύριος Ρίπλεϋ της Patricia Highsmith και Τα Φτερά του Έρωτα του Wim Wenders, ενώ εργάζεται σε διάφορα τηλεοπτικά πρότζεκτ στο στάδιο της ανάπτυξης.
Είναι συγγραφέας του βιβλίου Catching The Light: Sam Mendes and Simon Russell Beale (Bloomsbury Methuen).
Εκπαιδεύτηκε στο National Theatre Directors Course και στο RWCMD. Ως Associate και Assistant Director έχει συνεργαστεί, μεταξύ άλλων, στα Design for Living (με τους Andrew Scott, Tom Burke και Lisa Dillon) στο Old Vic και Private Peaceful στο Theatre Royal Haymarket στο West End και στο HKAPC στο Χονγκ Κονγκ.
Διδάσκει στο Syracuse University London και έχει σκηνοθετήσει σε δραματικές σχολές όπως οι RADA, East15 και Mountview.
Ο Ρωμανός Γεροδήμος είναι συγγραφέας (Ανταποκρίσεις από τον 21ο Αιώνα, Οδηγός Επιβίωσης για τον 21ο Αιώνα, Interdisciplinary Applications of Shame/Violence Theory), σεναριογράφος/σκηνοθέτης (Deterrence, Essence, At the Edge of the Present, A Certain Type of Freedom, Fellows Hall, Stepped in Blood) και Καθηγητής Διεθνούς Πολιτικής και Επικοινωνίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Bournemouth.
Τώρα ετοιμάζει τη νέα του ταινία μεγάλου μήκους, Μια Παρουσία στην Ατομική Έρημο στην οποία πρωταγωνιστεί ο Mark Leipacher.
Σε συνεργασία με το Μουσείο του Φρόϊντ στο Λονδίνο και το σύνολο The Faction, και δουλεύοντας μαζί με τον Mark Leipacher, την Καθηγ. Candida Yates, τον Tom DeRose και την Εύα Μακρή, υλοποιεί τα τελευταία χρόνια ένα ψυχοκοινωνικό ερευνητικό πρόγραμμα για τις σύγχρονες απηχήσεις και τη θεραπευτική δύναμη των έργων του Σαίξπηρ.
Είναι ιδρυτής του Greek Politics Specialist Group, μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Ιδρύματος Άγγελου & Λητώς Κατακουζηνού, και αρθρογραφεί τακτικά στην Athens Voice.

Join us for a very special evening featuring award-winning director, actor, and writer Mark Leipacher (Macbeth: Partners of Greatness, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Talented Mr Ripley, Mary Stuart, Douglass) in conversation with academic,
writer and filmmaker Roman Gerodimos (Deterrence, Essence, At the Edge of the Present).
Mark Leipacher – Artistic Director of one of the UK’s freshest, boldest ensembles:
The Faction – will be visiting Athens for a few days, as he starts to prepare the Greek unit of his epic, multi-year, international and multilingual production of Shakespeare’s Pericles: Prince of Tyre.
Leipacher and Gerodimos will discuss the Faction’s unique approach to theatre, which includes looking at classical texts from a fresh, 21st century perspective, as well as its passionate commitment to the values of diversity, equality, accessibility, inclusivity, representation, environmental sustainability and respect for diverse cultures
and languages.
Leipacher and Gerodimos will also reflect on their long-standing collaboration with the Freud Museum in London, exploring the contemporary resonance and therapeutic power of Shakespeare’s and Freud’s works, including through a series of psychosocial workshops in London, as well as podcasts, theatrical evenings at the Garden of the Freud Museum, and a documentary film (Stepped in Blood) segments of which
will be screened during the evening.
The Katakouzenos House Museum – which has supported the project from the beginning – is the ideal space to host this evening as Angelos and Leto Katakouzenos dedicated their lives to the disciplines of psychoanalysis and the arts, and brought all that together in this unique space overlooking the Greek parliament.
At a time of global malaise, abuse of power, conflict and disorder, Mark Leipac
her and Roman Gerodimos will showcase the ways in which classical literature, contemporary theatre and psychosocial research can provoke thoughts,
thrills and therapy.
The event includes a Q&A with the audience and will take place in English. Stepped in Blood is in English with Greek subtitles.

Roman’s latest book, Survival Guide for the 21st Century, will be available for sale at the foyer, and Roman will be available to sign your book after the event.
Mark Leipacher is a theatre director, actor, educator and writer working in the UK
and internationally. He is from the Black Country and is now based in London.
As Artistic Director of The Faction ensemble he has won the Peter Brook Award,
Off West End Award, and was nominated for the Off West End Award for Best Director.
Selected productions include: Mary Stuart, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Talented Mr Ripley, Douglass, Macbeth: Partners of Greatness. Mark has been longlisted for the Young Vic Genesis Fellowship and was included in top 10 percent of script submissions to the BBC Writers Room programme. As a writer Mark’s stage adaptations include The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith and Wings of Desire by Wim Wenders and he has several television projects in early development. Mark is the author of Catching The Light: Sam Mendes and Simon Russell Beale published by Bloomsbury Methuen.
Mark trained on the National Theatre Directors Course and RWCMD. Mark’s work as an Associate and Assistant Director includes: Design for Living (with Andrew Scott, Tom Burke and Lisa Dillon) at the Old Vic and Private Peaceful at Theatre Royal Haymarket in the West End and HKAPC in Hong Kong. Mark is Adjunct Faculty of Syracuse University London and has directed at drama schools including RADA, East15 and Mountview.
Roman Gerodimos is a writer (Dispatches from the 21st Century, Survival Guide for the 21st Century, Interdisciplinary Applications of Shame/Violence Theory), filmmaker (Deterrence, Essence, At the Edge of the Present, A Certain Type of Freedom, Fellows Hall, Stepped in Blood) and Professor of Global Current Affairs at Bournemouth University.
He is currently producing his latest feature film, Presence (In the Atomic Desert).
In collaboration with the Freud Museum and the Faction, and working alongside Mark Leipacher, Prof. Candida Yates, Tom DeRose and Eva Makri, he has been running a psychosocial research project on the contemporary resonances
and therapeutic power of Shakespeare’s works.
He is a Board Member of the Angelos & Leto Katakouzenos Foundation and has a regular column in Athens Voice.
